Accessibility statement

A site about accessible places should be accessible itself. Here’s where we’re at.

Last updated: 3 November 2026

What we aim for

We’re working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA. You should be able to:

  • use the site with a keyboard alone, including a “Skip to content” link
  • use a screen reader, with labelled buttons and headings
  • zoom up to 400% without things breaking
  • read text with strong colour contrast
  • use the site on a phone, tablet or computer

Things we know aren’t perfect

  • The interactive map can be tricky with a keyboard or screen reader — the list view shows the same places.
  • Google photos don’t always have detailed descriptions.
  • Some text from Google and visitors may not be in plain English.

Tell us what’s not working
